Introduction: -

Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care, Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences is the most prominent heath care giver, manpower wise as well as with infrastructure, This department has catered the need of many clinical department by anaesthetic support to endoscopy unit, Radiology, Lithotripsy, Nephrology, Regional Cancer Centre, RIO It also has managed the responsibility to look after the different Intensive Care Unit, High dependency unit etc round the clock and simultaneously does airway management & respiratory support to critically ill.

This department has developed/remodeled 04 (Four) Modular Operation Theatres and 12 (Twelve) Semi Modular Operation Theatres, 14 (Fourteen) bed recovery unit & 15 (Fifteen) bed surgical ICU. The department has pioneered in patient care especially in Renal Transplant Anaesthesia, Pain & Palliative Care.

The department has been recognized by Medical Council of India for Postgraduate (M.D. Anaesthesiology).
