INTRODUCTION:

In pursuance of opening a Medical College at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, the idea of opening the Department of Anatomy came into existence. In February 2011 first faculty joined the Department on the post of Associate Professor. It was the time when Department of Anatomy hatched out from the idea to reality.   Very soon Professor, Assistant Professor, S.R., J.R. and other staff joined the Department. At present the Department of Anatomy includes 6 faculty members with primary full-time appointments, 3 S.R. In year 2017 department stepped forward with commencement of Postgraduate course. Presently three PG Students (JR Academic) perusing MS (Anatomy) Course in the department. Faculties have focus both on teaching and research work. All faculties are member of Anatomical Society of India and Bihar and Jharkhand Chapter State Chapter of Anatomical Society of India. HOD holds the post of the Executive committee of the Anatomical society of India. In addition, as a service to the public, ‘embalming for transportation of dead bodies’ is also undertaken by the Department. Department personnel also work to aware the society to donate the dead bodies for academic and research purposes and provide certificate of appreciation for the same. Presently in the department PG student, 1st year MBBS students, students of different paramedical courses, students of B.Sc. Nursing and GNM are being taught. For pursuing the research work smoothly ‘Departmental research committee’ & Research Lab. has been established under chairmanship of HOD.

  4. A study of Seasonal Variation in Seminal parameter of men visiting tertiary care centre, Patna.

Special, Achievement during the year :

  • Faculty members and tutors/residents attended the Annual conference of Bihar & Jharkhand State chapter of Anatomical Society of India held at ANMMC, Gaya in the month of October 2017.
  • Dr. Vinod Kumar (Prof. & Head) and Dr. Avanish Kumar (Additional Professor) Chaired scientific sessions in National and state conferences.
  • Dr. Jyoti P Kulkarni. Addl. Professor. Participated in workshop on Medical Genetics from 24/07/17 to 05/08/17 at SGPGI, Lucknow (U.P.) & Completed a 3 months online Bioethics course from 15/08/17 to 15/11/17.
  • Dr. Avanish Kumar has been included in editorial board of Bihar and Jharkhand State Chapter of ASI.
  • An awareness campaign within society to Donate body after death for the academic and research purpose is being run by the department. So many persons have shown willingness in this regard.
