“I am a teacher! What I do and say are being absorbed by young minds who will echo these images across the ages. My lessons will be immortal, affecting people yet unborn, people I will never see or know. The future of the world is in my classroom today, a future with the potential for good or bad. The pliable minds of tomorrow's leaders will be molded either artistically or grotesquely by what I do”.
The Medical Education Unit of IGIMS, Patna was formed in 2011 with the opening of the Medical College in the same year. The then Director and Principal started it as chairman and coordinator respectively. The main activity then was to get the interested faculty trained in ‘Basic Course in Medical Education Technology’ from the allocated Regional MCI Training Centre in ME, Indore, MP. Many faculty of the Institute have been trained in ‘Basic Course in Medical Education Technology’
The MEU has been reconstituted three times since 2011. The Director of the Institute as Overall Officer In-Charge, Dean (Academics) as Officer In-Charge, Principal - Medical College as Joint Officer In-Charge and a senior, trained faculty as the ‘Coordinator’ of the unit with 12 more faculty as its ‘ members’ .

Recognition of IGIMS, Patna as NMC Regional Centre for Medical Education Technology
The objectives of the unit are to:
1. Ensure continuous quality improvement in Medical education
2. Ensure continuous effort for faculty development
3. Monitor the objectives and its implementation across departmental barriers in the undergraduate curriculum
4. Sensitize faculty and students to newer concepts of medical education
MEU, IGIMS, Patna has organized many workshops and CME's and has been involved in improving academic activities in this regard.

At present, this MEU mainly focuses on implementation of new changes done in the UG Curriculum (competency based medical education done by NMC); in IGIMS, Patna.
