DEPARTMEMT OF MICROBIOLOGY

INTRODUCTION:For diagnostic support of various speciality and super speciality departments in IGIMS, the Department of Microbiology was established in 1985 (along with other diagnostic departments like Biochemistry and Pathology).Besides good performance in its own field, the department also included Blood Bank and Haematology in it till 2012 when after opening of the medical college Haematology section was merged with Pathology Department.

At present the department is having the following sections for its proper and smooth functioning –

  1. Bacteriology
  2. Mycobacteriology
  3. Clinical Parasitology
  4. Clinical Immunology
  5. Mycology

Blood bank also works under the guidance of Microbiology Department.
