Introduction: -
Department of Skin and Venereal Diseases at I.G.I.M.S, Patna deals with diagnosis and management of skin diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, leprosy as well as skin manifestations of internal diseases. Department of Skin and Venereal Diseases, has all the basic facilities for management of skin diseases and STD. Department is situated in OPD Complex on 2nd Floor.

Facility for treatment of skin diseases is available on all working Days.

It routinely carries out dermatologic and cosmetic procedures such as biopsies, skin grafting, electro cautery, chemical peels, derma roller etc.

The department also treats leprosy patients; providing free medicines throughout the course of their disease.

Facility for the treatment of STDs and free medicines for the treatment are available. Counseling facility is also available.

Facilities of procedures like vitiligo surgeries, punch grafting, Thiersch grafting, smash grafting are done.

Seminars and CME are also regularly conducted in the department.
Academics: -
MBBS, MD, DNB, BMLT, and Nursing (B. Sc and GNM) course students are being taught by experienced and dedicated group of faculties. PhD course has also started recently. Senior residency, job training of B. Sc Biotechnology and internship programs are also being conducted.

Patient Care:-
Facility for management of skin diseases is available on all working Days. It routinely carries out dermatologic and cosmetic procedures such as biopsies, skin grafting, electrocautery, chemical peels, derma roller etc. The department also treats leprosy patients; providing free medicines throughout the course of their disease. Facility for the treatment of STDs and free medicines for the treatment are available. Counseling facility is also available. Facilities of procedures like vitiligo surgeries, punch grafting, Thiersch grafting, smash grafting are done. Facility for the treatment of skin diseases, nail disorders, and hair disorders are given. Day care facility for pulse therapy is also provided. Procedures like comodon extraction, nail avulsion, intralesional injections, pairing, wound care is being done.
