Central Animal House Department of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna has been registered from Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CCSEA), under Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, for “Research for Education purpose and Breeding for in house use for small laboratory animals” like Mouse, Rat, Hamster, Guinea Pig and Rodents with Registration Number-1919/GO/ReBi/S/16/CPCSEA. Central Animal House building (G+2) having 2868 square meter area, is located in front of 500 bed hospital of IGIMS, having sufficient animal holding space with proper facility for animal experimentation as well as for breeding purposes. The Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (I.A.E.C) periodically meets and cleared projects on small animals (Rodents) of various investigators of Institute. All small animals colony are maintained by us in the Central Animal facility for in house breeding and research.
